Winter Table with flowers and china

Winter Table

As I was putting up my Christmas decorations in my house, I noticed I had this plaid tablecloth at the bottom of one of the boxes. I decided to create a nice tablescape to go around that plaid tablecloth since I just love the red, green, and gold color. I purchased a local crafting/pottery store after Christmas a few years ago, because discounts are the best and everything goes on sale after Christmas.

My china I bought on Wayfair. I've really liked it so far. It's not the nicest china, but it was a 57 piece for about the price I had been seeing for a one person setting. So heck yeah I got it. I was looking for service for 8 especially, because I wanted to be able to serve my whole immediate family if they ever came for a special occasion, as well as serving myself and my husband. II also wanted a nice simple pattern that I could easily match to whatever I decided I wanted to do for table decor and it's been absolutely fantastic for that reason. It's been working great and I have no complaints about it's ability to look semi-nice and serve food! I will mention that some of the edges look like they got a little wonky in printing, but that's all.

I got my napkins and table runner from HomeGoods. They were both on sale also, because that's really the only way I like to buy anything now-a-days. The napkins wrinkle a little fast, but that's okay. I'm not so busy or ~important~that I need to use my napkins everyday. They are easy to iron or if I'm feeling lazy, they're really easy to throw into the dryer and set to my de-wrinkle setting. ;)

Okay, let's talk florals and sales. There's a great time between Halloween and the first week of November where the stores want to get rid of all of their fall decorations, but also want you to buy their christmas/holiday decorations so they put like everything on sale. Now, it's not the kind of sale for Christmas florals that you get after the holiday season, but it's something if you're trying to buy florals for a Christmas dinner. I was able to get really nice picks for my centerpiece, the branches that I have in the middle of the table, some other picks and branches for the rest of my house, and even some fall picks for next fall all for under $20. It was awesome. It makes my sales-loving heart flutter with happiness. Okay, on to the flowers I got for this tablescape. A nice trick I like to do when I'm just buying florals for one centerpiece is to get floral bushes like this one from Michaels. You can see that it has several flowers, greenery and berries. So I'll buy one or two of those and some picks or stems of something else I like and then just arrange it with the help of my trusty needle nose pliers I have at home. It makes worrying about matching a thing of the past, really. That's what I did with this centerpiece for my table.

Now for the napkin rings. I couldn't find anything that I liked while I was shopping, so I bought some burlap and ribbon. Funny story, when I got home and started to heat up my glue gun, I noticed that I had acccidentally gotten burlap tape (I guess that's what happens when your mind is too excited about sale items)! It ended up working really well in the end. I didn't take off the backing for the burlap tape and glued it down so it wouldn't be a problem. It made it stiffer than it would have been had it just been burlap. It wasn't what I expected, but hey, it works. After that I just glued the ribbons down in layers. I decided instead of making actual bows with the gold rope ribbon that I had, that I would just make a pretzel like thing and that worked way better for me; it was also way easier to glue down.

Honorable mentions - my glasses and silverware are just gifts that I got from my wedding, so I didn't buy them special or anything. I wouldn't mind getting gold silverware at some point, but I didn't think that it was that important to this specific table decor.
